Start your vegetable garden with carrots

YOU do not need a lot of land to start a vegetable garden - in fact a piece of ground the size of a door can produce enough vegetables for a family of five people. Here is how to plant carrots:

  • Find a piece of ground - it must get a lot of sun.
  • Dig up the soil. Work with the soil to make it soft and crumbly. You can also add some compost to make the soil more fertile.
  • Plant your carrot seeds about 1cm below the surface of the soil.
  • Water the ground after you have planted your seeds, and then remember to continue to water them regularly, though beware of overwatering.
  • You should begin to see shoots in between 14 and 18 days. But be patient - the delicious carrots will be worth the wait.
