MK cadre's remains brought home for reburial

President Jacob Zuma and the ANC in KwaZulu-Natal will today oversee the reburial of struggle hero Jerry Zithulele Khuzwayo, a cadre of Umkhonto We Sizwe who died and was buried in Angola in 1988.

Khuzwayo's remains will be reburied at his home at Ngilanyoni in Camperdown tomorrow. ANC provincial secretary Sihle Zikalala said Khuzwayo was known and loved by all in exile, mostly MK cadres and the local populations he lived with.

"Those that studied with him in Cuba had a special affection for and affinity with him as they respected and regarded him as a soldier's soldier," Zikalala said.

"Jerry displayed great discipline as well as commitment and this led him to be nominated and assigned to work with the Cuban contingent that fought the invading South African Defence Force in Angola.

"He utilised his specialty in communications to intercept communications of the invading South African Army," Zikalala said.

He died in 1988 from a gunshot wound.
