Nine children were injured after a minibus taxi collided with another vehicle in Northdale, Pietermaritzburg on Thursday, paramedics said.

Reports from the scene are that the two vehicles collided in front of the Regina school in Northdale," said Netcare 911 spokesman Chris Botha.

The children, who were travelling in the minibus, were transported to hospital for treatment.

In January, seven children under the age of 13 were killed in a crash in Pietermaritzburg. Eighteen were injured.

The eighth child died on Wednesday.

In the same month, eight children were injured when a car hit them outside their school in Reservoir Hills, Durban.
