Mixed fortunes for SA stars

There were mixed fortunes for South Africa's overseas brigade trying to catch the eye of national team coach Shakes Mashaba ahead of his squad announcement for the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Mauritania next month.

Ayanda Patosi came off late on after helping his Belgian side Lokeren to their first win of the league season with a 2-0 victory over Mechelen.

Patosi played in a more central role and was his usual lively self before being substituted with three minutes to go.

Goalkeeper Darren Keet played for Kortrijk as they conceded deep into injury time to lose 2-1 to champions Club Brugge.

Kortrijk looked to have rescued a point when they found an equaliser in injury time, but conceded again just a minute later.

Anele Ngcongca was again an unused substitute for Genk in their 2-1 win over Westerlo. He has now played just four minutes of football this season.

Kagisho Dikgacoi continued his fine comeback from injury with another solid display as English Championship side Cardiff City rescued a draw at Queens Park Rangers.

The former Bafana Bafana midfielder got another 70 minutes under his belt having been roundly praised for his performances so far this campaign.

Kgosi Ntlhe played for League One Peterborough United as they collected a first win of the season with a 2-1 win over Colchester United.

Steven Pienaar was again missing for Everton through injury as they romped to a 3-0 success at Southampton in the English Premier League.

Tokelo Rantie is not expected to line up for Bournemouth at Liverpool tonight after being given leave for a family bereavement.

It looks like being a long season for Kamohelo Mokotjo and FC Twente after the cash-strapped club were thumped 4-1 by ADO Den Haag at home.

Mokotjo started the game and is one of the few star names left after the club were forced to sell their top talent to cut their debt.

Thulani Serero was also missing for Ajax Amsterdam in their 3-0 rout of Willem II following his recent aborted comeback from an ankle injury.
